Day 4

Already here we are at Day 4.  Can't believe I'm living it.  I did sit back at lunch and smile at Richard about how nice this felt.  Usually when we travel we need to go about 400-500 miles in a day.  This trip I can say to Richard, "Let's go to that vista view point.  Let's go to that rest stop."  We left today planning on going to Olive Pit in Corning, CA.  They have 9 free spots for RV's.  And a fabulous store and restaurant.  Little did we know.............
As we leave Oregon, we enter California

This is Artie, he moved up to the front into my lap.  He likes smelling the air vent.  He is very still and calm in my lap.  Yesterday's picture of his sad eyes was probably because he likes riding up front.  Richard doesn't like it because he thought there would be both dogs up front and into everything.  Artie proved him wrong.  As you can see below, Leinen is happy in the back seat.  I forgot to mention that on Day 2 we took the dogs to the vets in Corvallis.  It was a very nice place.  They got a few shots that are required for when we board them in July for the reunion.

The cover Richard bought isn't too comfortable to the dogs, and holds heat from the sun.  It is very clean and water proof.  Tomorrow, or whenever we get back on the road, I'm going to put their blankets from their kennels in the back seat.

If you look real close in this picture you'll see a bird.  I put this in the blog to tell you I have a video of the bird on my face book page.

Mt. Shasta   Beautiful day

This is a cone

Look at Leinen's happy face!

This rest stop had a nice long dog walk

However, I wondered why the dog walk had all these beautiful iris's!

This motorhome was pulling a "Tiny house."  It was advertising the Tiny House show.

I wish I could have seen inside.  We think there was a convention close by because we saw 2 more tiny houses driving the other way up the road.

It advertises that there is a special coating on the house to prevent it from burning in a forest fire.
Here is Lake Shasta-looking much fuller than Richard remembers.  Then things started happening with the clutch.  Gears were grinding.  We kept going until we were close to Redding.  We pulled off.  Luckily, it was the best place because it wasn't downtown.  Another car had pulled off right before we got there.  Then after being there about 30 minutes a Prius had pulled off, out of gas.  lol.  Popular spot!

I decided this tree looked nice enough to sit under with the dogs while we waited for a tow truck.

But the tree was surrounded by this.  I think it is poison oak.  Anyway, the dogs and I found shade right at the edge of the branches that didn't have this plant.  As of now, no one has broken out into a rash.

The tow truck arrived finding the Prius too close, so he pushed our truck and trailer back.  By now I had put the dogs into the trailer in their kennels.

Then Mr. Prius arrives with gas.

Thankfully we are a part of Good Sam's Club.  The tow was free.  He first towed us to Redding RV Park that was only a mile away.  Richard called Good Sam, he called the dealer and made reservations for us at the RV park and called the tow truck.  All this definitely paid for our membership.

Thanks, Good Sam for all your help

After all is said and done, Richard cooks dinner.  Isn't he wonderful?  We have this camp site for two nights.  We'll fine out tomorrow if it is a broken hose, or something major.  If it is a broken hose we will still go to Annaheim.  If it is worse, we stay here until Tuesday because it is a long weekend.  Thanks goodness they have Uber here!
The dogs are all worn out from the excitement.  We are fine.

  1. Isn't it a beautiful thing: this gift of time...gives us a bit more patience in rolling with the punches or in this case the break downs! Keep blogging!
