Day 13. This morning we left Redding and headed south on I-5.
He may not look it, but he and Leinen were happy to be in the truck with lots of things to look at. He has one ear that lies down, and another that goes sideways. Our first stop was to the Olive Pit.
We stopped at a truck stop for gas. The gray truck in the right picture has a little white dog in it. The truck got weighed. The truck and trailer weighs 19,040. pounds
Lunch was at where else would a music teacher have lunch? Las Maracas! Not a maracas in sight. However, across the street in this little itty bitty town was the science and technology academy. I think it was an elementary school. They were out for the summer. They had a nice garden with compost. They also had chickens-well, a chicken coop that didn't have chickens in it, probably because school's out.

I've always wondered how rice is planted, grows and is harvested. This is a rice combine. I really wasn't sure if it was a planter or harvester until I read on the sign to be careful of keeping your hands out of the combine.
I would really like to have a rock garden like this with plants in pots. I have been collecting a few things at home already to put in it. I wonder if I will find anything cool on our hikes, or if I'm not allowed to pick the rocks, like you can't pick flowers.

Tomorrow another Harvest Host visit. This is an app that leads us to free camping. Most places are business that want you to purchase something if you park there overnight. Usually they don't have any hook ups for the RV's. This host is different because they aren't business owners, they are retired farmers living in their house on their land they have leased out, or sold, I've heard the say both. Flat land here, and no highway noise. Just chickens! ha ha ha.
Well, I went and looked how this posted. The pictures are in the same spot. You'll figure it out.
That rose is beautiful and lunch looks pretty tasty too. I bet you are both glad to be back on the road.
