Wyoming

So, I ended the last blog with us leaving Craig, CO.

Welcome to Wyoming.  It was a very short trip to the border.  I have looked over my pictures, and I don't have many of Wyoming.  I thought I took at least one of the long, long, long, flat open spaces.

There were some interesting rocky cliffs.

I tried to catch a picture of Artie and Leinen sleeping, but they popped their heads up when I turned the camera towards them.  I didn't realize that Wyoming has the least amount of people in the whole USA.  So wifi was 3G all through the state.  I couldn't use my GPS or check stuff online or check out AllStays app the whole time.  Another interesting feature of Wyoming were the trains.  Hundreds of trains traveling through the state.  They had truck containers on them stacked by two's.  There would be 2 engines in the front, 2 in the middle, and one at the end.  That is what the picture above is.
That night we spent at the Walmart in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Richard had remembered stopping there many times when he worked for JPL.  Back in the 70's.  Yes, it has changed some.
I played with the panorama feature on my iPhone for these pictures.  I think that night there were at least 17 RV's and 10 semi's parked.  It was nice to park and shop.

Above is another try at the Pano feature.  I must have jiggled it towards the end because I have a not so complimentary picture of Richard at the end looking like he has a giant beer belly!  So I cropped him off and made this black and white.  I think it looks cool.

Here we are looking good

There was an ok sunset that night.

This was where we got awesome wifi from.  Yes, it was this close.  We didn't get coffee from Starbucks the next morning, but Richard did get donuts from Walmart.  Walmarts also have very nice grass for the dogs.
The next day..........
Richard and I are always trying to come up with ideas on how to make my blogging easier and less time consuming with bad wifi.  He suggested I use my Canon.  So the next pictures are from that.  Let's see how that goes.

Well now, it is a day later.  Everything was moving along fine.  I had most pictures on this page then.........no wifi.  Well, a little, but not enough to work on the blog.  Until now.

Here we are leaving Walmart.  The pictures to the right and below show Wyoming as it looked as we were leaving.

There is a small tourist trap along the highway called "Little America."  Richard noticed the sign and said the cones were only 5 cents when he was a kid.

Here we see one of the many trains criss crossing Wyoming.
Remember when oil pumps looked like giant crickets going up and down?  They have been replaced by what you seeing the picture above.
We were driving along and saw a sign for Fossil Butte National Monument.  We had the Passport Book for National Monuments and Parks, so we thought we'd check out the visitor's center.  I'm not one for fossils, I like live things, but this was a great place as you can see in the below pictures.  The visitor center wasn't very big, but the displays were very nicely done.  There was even a park ranger in there brushing on a fossil clearing away extra rock.  There was a road to drive in on where you could actually see fossils outside, but we didn't go........this time.

Here is a picture of today's bird.  lol.

Here is the butte where you can drive to see fossils.

And finally----welcome to Idaho!  Where there are fields and field of potatoes!

And cows.  We spent the night at another Walmart.  Saw more cows and potatoes.
Richard was commenting on the way the water sprayers travel around the fields and turn gears and how they work.  He's got such an engineer's mind.  He's pretty smart, ya know.
Right before we got into Montana I took this picture.  I thought it was pretty interesting looking.

And here is the Welcome to Montana sign, only I waited too long to snap the picture!  lol.
I'm going to post this, then start on another one.  Hope you enjoy!  Thanks to the 13 of you who look at these!  B

  2. Thanks, I'm trying. I stopped at a viewpoint yesterday for Flathead Lake. I had the dogs, someone came up to take pictures and glared at me and the dogs. I didn't get a good picture because I wasn't thinking. There is a picture in the blog I'm writing right now I like with motorcycles in it.
