Day 5, from Princeton, BC to Sunriver, OR

Hello!  Let me first put in the pictures I should have posted yesterday.
Dragon chainsaw sculpture in Chetwynd.  I wish I had time to go around and take pictures of more sculptures.  Chetwynd has a competition in June.

About the only wild life we saw this day was cows.    And green trees! We went backwards in time.

Logging was a big deal in the area of BC we went through.

Here is Artie and Leinen.  Artie insisted on sitting on my lap.  Leinen didn't mind-he had to whole back seat to himself, then.

And now for Today!
The last leg.  We were only about an hour and half away from the border.  It was a beautiful drive on the vineyard road to the border.  There were orchards and vineyards and fruit stands, and pumpkins, and no time to stop and shop.  We also couldn't take anything with us into Washington.  I realized that this is the first time I have ever seen ripe grapes growing on vines.  They were beautiful!  We were going so fast that I couldn't get a pic.  Maybe we'll see some when we go to CA.  CA now means California, not Canada.   One fruit stand looked particularly fun.  It had a row of ancient tractors all decorated with pumpkins.  Here are some grapes, and some apple trees.
The sight of windmills in WA near the Columbia River.  The ones on the Oregon side weren't moving.  This picture was taken through the front windshield after Richard had cleaned all the bug carcases off.

We stopped at a rest area so the dogs could have water and do their business.  This sign was posted at the pet walk area.  I will be watching for rattlesnakes from now until we get back to Alaska.  We drove over this cool, tall bridge.

The pictures below turned out pretty nice through my window, there is a spot, though.  I was quite a beautiful drive today.

Our final destination today is at my friends' house in Sunriver, Or.  I'll have pics of Ginny and Dave later this week.  Tomorrow we go to our trailer which is only one mile down the road from their house.  Ginny has been a friend of mine since 1984 when she lived in Fairbanks, AK
Artie was a real pill today.  I figured out his anxiousness was due to the rumble strips on the road.  Every time Richard would drive over one Artie would start panting and shaking.  Then he'd use my lap to pace on.  I finally threw him to the back.  Here he is looking forlorn.

Both dogs tested out the cat's bed at Ginny's house.

Good night all-see you tomorrow!  It should be an interesting post, I hope.  How will we find the trailer??????

  1. I take it the rush was because you'd made arrangements to meet your friends at specific time? Good pics anyways.

    1. To me, the “rush” was self inflicted. We had a date to be back to the RV that was set back in June and we could’ve left sooner. But then we would’ve spent more on hotels and more days traveling. Last June, we spent 2 weeks doing essentially the same trip but we had our “home” with us. Much simpler.
