Hello readers. I have decided to not follow the type of title that Richard uses because I'm not reliably entering something every day. Our evenings here in Sunriver have been spent with old friends who live a mile down the road. Ginny and I have been friends since the 80's.

This picture I call "Home, Sweet, Home" It was so nice to be back to the trailer. Nothing was wrong. The solar panels and fan did their thing. No rodent or insect invasion. It didn't smell bad. It is great!
Here is a welcome to Sunriver waterfall and sign. We've had beautiful weather.
That was our first full day here. That evening was Ginny and Dave's 32nd anniversary. We went to a very fancy, wonderful restaurant that had a tree growing in the middle. Here is the Happy couple. Dave is ready to devour that dessert! It was actually a giant hunk of mocha ice cream with lots of other good parts. I couldn't have any with my diet
Now is probably as good of a time as any to talk about my new diet, if I haven't already before. I have been struggling with eczema for a little over a year now. It is mostly on my hands. The doctor prescribed steroid cream that keeps it at bay, as long as I use it every day, but it doesn't heal it. About a month ago I went to see a naturopath doctor to see what he recommends. I also want to lose weight and get my blood pressure down. I am currently on 3 blood pressure medicines. He gave me a food sensitivities test. It was through my blood drawn. It is known that skin conditions such as mine are related to gut conditions. So what I see on my hands could be what is in my gut. The tests were surprising. So many people are gluten free I wondered if that was the case. Many others are dairy sensitive. My results? I can eat all the gluten I want as long as it doesn't have any dairy or egg in it! Dairy and egg? Eggs????? That was a big surprise. So bye, bye desserts. All no-nos on my list are dairy, eggs, bananas, string beans, and kidney beans. Things that I can have once in awhile are sugar and almonds. I have been living primarily on an almond diet with almond milk in the morning, almond butter for lunch, and almonds for snacks. My two challenges have been what's for breakfast, and how to eat out.
We have settled on steel cut oats for breakfast with added berries, nuts, and raisins. Richard makes the oats in the pressure cooker. The recipe called for browning the oats in butter first. We used coconut oil instead. I can have coffee with honey. That's breakfast.
Dinner at a restaurant. No Mac 'N Cheese, mashed potatoes, anything cooked in butter like sauteed fish, no baked potato-who likes just a dry potato with no butter or sour cream? I finally decided on filet mignon. A little into the dinner I noticed someone was served beans. I quickly deduced that was the vegetable of the day (and they were fresh) so I quickly told the waiter to bring me a plate of lettuce or something. He said, "iceburg or arugula?" I said arugula. It was brought to me with grated cheese on it. ha ha ha.
Last night we had dinner at their house, this time it was Dave's birthday! I had 2 hot dogs because I could. I have stayed away from hot dogs for a long time, but now I eat them. No bun. I also ate avocado and rice, not mixed together though! ha ha.
Here is Dave with his cake and granddaughter.
Before all the big celebrating last night we went shopping for groceries and dog items. I kept noticing some fun items, but Richard had to remind me I'm not teaching anymore. That used to be my excuse, "I need this for the classroom!" I did end up purchasing a Snoopy Christmas ornament to go with my collection. Sorry, not pictured.
The first picture is of Halloween Peanuts PJ pants. The next pic is a tape dispenser.

And at a feed/hardware/Hallmark/camping/clothing/everything store:
So this comes to the end of this post. Tonight we are going out to hear our friend Dave and his band play. Tomorrow is church. I will also be going around to take pics of the trees, animals, and volcanic rocks in the next day or two. Artie has been eating better. I have figured out that they don't care for the laminate floor Richard put in because it is cold. They spend time on the couch.
Yesterday was wonderful-in the 80's! Today it will only be in the 60's. 58 right now.
See you next time!
Nice pics, fun celebrating, and good for you on trying a naturopathic approach! I hope you see great results!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynne. It is a challenge when visiting friends and going out to eat.
