Blogging for January 16 and 17. Wow-a half a month ago!

We have made it to Needles, CA.  Since we are here for a month we put in the $ for good wifi.  Yea!  First job, catch up on the blog.  Second job, research Maui for the 2020 Machida reunion.  I am going back to January 16 for the start of today's blog.  Here's a spoiler for the blog about Lake Havasu.  Yesterday I went in my inflatable kayak for a ride under the real London Bridge.

Ok, back to boon docking.  These pictures I took from the top of the RV.

All of these RVs are boondocking.  That means no water, sewer or electricity.  The picture of the orange mountains is looking back the other way during a sunset.  The sunset itself wasn't that spectacular that day.  There were cactus and some trees.  There were a lot of rocks.  This is on BLM land.  We go to the host site and sign a paper.  The government is shut down right now, so there is no one patrolling the sites to see if they have the papers in the windows, but we got one just in case they came back to work.  My biggest worry was snakes and scorpions.
It was cool when we arrived-like in the 60's.  I stayed inside pretty much crocheting, reading, and doing puzzles on my phone.  Look up Puzzle page if you liked doing the puzzle books of number puzzles, picture puzzles, and word puzzles.  Now Wifi without having to try to tether my computer to my phone that wouldn't have cell signal anyway.
The next night was the eclipse.  These are the pics we got:  The first four were all taken by Richard.  Right when it got nice the clouds came in.  The last pic was taken on my iPhone.  #3 is the best.

Wow, I can't believe how fast blogging goes with good wifi!
One day we went to the Giant RV show in the "big" tent.  Yes, the tent was quite large!  Expectations: Big tent with hundreds of RVs set up to peer into.  Well, the RVs were outside.  All kinds, and we toured many.  We didn't get to the class As, though.  Inside of the big tent, however, were rows and rows of vendors selling things for RVs + things you'd find at a fair.  There were solar panels, essential oils, jewelry, cleaning supplies, massage chairs, clean water containers, places to explore (like Alaska and Canada), parks looking for paid and volunteer helpers for the summer, and these little furry nocturnal pets like you see in the picture below.  The truck on the left was quite impressive, ready to go and pull something big!

Here are some pictures of our favorite brand of 5th wheel, Montana.  That is a TV over a fireplace.  Notice the nice floor.  I am showing you pictures from probably 3 different ones.  I love these lights.

Pantries were very, very nice.  The pic on the right show another TV over a fireplace, but the TV is down inside.  Richard said he saw a family on YouTube who traveled with 3-4 children.  They had issues with the TV in that toys would always fall down in the hole.

I love this sliding door in the bedroom, and this swivel door to the bath that doesn't block the hall way.

A place for keys and coats.  The kitchens had islands.

This is a storage compartment that rolls out!!!!   And the best feature of this one----a desk instead of extra couches!  That desk had the TV, no fireplace.

Another style of light.  The pic on right is a docking station built into the couch.

Nope, not getting this one.  :(
The door on the right holds the washer and dryer.  I was talking to someone at the last park who said they don't use the dryer in their RV because it is too slow.  Not enough watts.

And the last pic for today.  Artie is whining to go potty.  There was a time change here in CA, the sun sets at its same time, but it is an hour earlier for us.  Going down at 5PM!  So glad for this WiFi!  I do more tomorrow!!!!!

  1. That is a tiny house, not an RV ;-)

  2. It seems bigger than a tiny house. One had 5 slide outs! 5! My brother is planning on going to Germany and Switzerland for 6 weeks when he retires in the spring. They've been over there several times before. They like to rent a car and go from B&B to B&B. Looking at all the fabulous meals they get served, I'd like to try that too. But then again renting a small motorhome would be fun, too.

  3. In order to get a bit into regional feel and cultural quirks, traveling by car and sleep in B&B is a perfect way to explore Europe, especially Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It's more affordable than hotels, too. Traveling in an RV can be quite the challenge on the narrow roads, that's why we prefer to travel in a small camper van.

    1. By “small motorhome” I believe she means something similar to your VW,

  4. Great pics! You got a much better one of the eclipse than I did with my phone. 😊

We use the washer and dryer in our coach all the time and they work great. They are stacked apartment sized so you need to load them accordingly, but I wouldn't be without them now that we've had them!
